Parthenon Empty
PostSubject: Parthenon    Parthenon EmptyMon Nov 12, 2012 12:02 pm

do any gods wish to join me in a holy Parthenon. in the last thread one was suggested but now I make it open to all gods who seek to protect Edora. once there are enough I will offer most members of the Parthenon some angels with which to do as they see fit. Our name and symbol shall be sorted out later

Well why not? I'll join this pantheon.

A suggestion, we make a palace for the pantheon on Astora?

But shouldn't the domain of the dead mortals and the immortal gods be distinguished? Having a bunch of gods living in an eternal party seems unfitting.

We have always lived in the afterlife, we saw it as something of a reward to the dead

Well, I'll make Astora my summer home when Edora isn't threatened with annihilation. All will be welcome to visit (only gods might want to though)!

What should we do in regards to the 2 main problem facing edora:
1) the dragon
2) the gient tentacle monster trying to fuck our shit up

For the dragon I recon we make a huge bowl of gorilla crunch. If anything is gonna unrustle his jimmies it is this.
The tentacle monster may be harder

I would like to have the dragon on our side. If we befriend the dragon then how about we get him and that imortal guy, fill em with blessings and send them to make callamari. Or your idea if the dragon is mean

PostSubject: Re: Parthenon    Parthenon EmptyFri Nov 16, 2012 12:26 am

Thus far, almost all threats have been impossible to kill by direct divine means, so I fear this plan may fail, but here is my proposal:

We all know that the amount of power we gain from worship is proportional to the amount of worshipers. Taking that into consideration, I propose we bless the mortals with greatly increased fertility, space, and harvests, in order to ensure we are as powerful as possible when the Second arrives. using that power, we should either create a weapon of some sort to fight him off, attempt to force him from our dimension, or empower mortals as our Avatars to indirectly fight him.

However, we must keep several things in mind. We know that the Leviathan seems to be nothing more than a beacon for the Second, and does not -appear- to pose a threat, as he is rather content to fulfill his purpose and then be eaten by the Second. We must also remember that the Leviathan said "The Second devours. Planets, suns, mortals, gods, all are consumed into his maw. And those that fight are either crushed by his hands, or struck by his Spear." so we have a small idea of how the Second will fight back--but we cannot ignore the possibility that this is simple metaphor. But, look closely. "Spear" has been capitalized. This probably means that the Spear is another threat altogether, and one that travels with the Second--possibly the Leviathan is the Spear, but there is no saying for sure.

Next, we have to think about this on a universal scale--no, multiversal. The Mage came to Edora to gain power from foreign gods to defend his home from "The great destroyer", which shows that there are other worlds under threat, and other worlds means other species. Other species means more worshipers. We could go on a campaign to gain worshipers, and even other gods, to fight off the Second and, possibly, destroy it for good.

The Mage also revealed that " this place has shown to be riddled with ancient weapons and powerful magics, I only ask for the blessings to find these and claim them as my own so that I may return to my home and defend it from the invaders" Which means that there may be items of Edora that even escape our gaze, or that we have forgotten about--this also outlines a very important strength, and possibly points to a weakness of the Second. If we consider for a moment, that the Mage may have more knowledge of the Second than us, and knows that he can use our powers to fight the Second (assuming the great destroyer is the Second) that means that divine power can in fact be used to fight the Second, or at least the Spear.

Am I forgetting anything?

PostSubject: Re: Parthenon    Parthenon EmptyFri Nov 16, 2012 12:06 pm

OK all of that was very good, thanks for all the ideas. next question:

what do we do with the angels?
the 3 main things I think they need are magic, smelting and law. if they can use the words of power to their full extent then they could make wings out of light and regain their lost divine gift of flight. the smelting will let them use the metals i have given them, instead of wearing them like a hat. the law is important because so far there is no set rules for them to follow and without rules to keep them good and humble they will end up like all angels/elves ever; idiotic, snobby and decadent.

so if on Sunday whoever made the runes gifted them with better understanding of them, ether bronzehammer or the machine herald could build a forge in the centre of the white city and a book saying how to use it (you can't just assume they will know how) and I make them a set of laws and a proper government to follow.

The dragon problem should be pretty easy to solve. Just tell the dragon that we need it's help to defeat an force hellbent on annihilating everything, including the dragon.

"The Second one" problem? Another story entirely.

When I asked Leviathan about the reason why his master is arriving so early, he simply told me that "It's time.", which means we have barely any time at all to prepare, so it's too late to gather worshipers. Unless we can take Edora and Eternal Oktoberfest and put them someplace else or find some other way to destroy the Destroyer, we have no chance.

If we DID have time then I have an idea: Call for help. While there may be some gods who would welcome oblivion, most of the divines scoff even at very notion of it, so finding allies should not be hard.

Oh Ardarvia...

Anyway Hokoth, I believe we still have some amount of time left until Second arrives--after all, we have no idea how long a turn is on the ground--could be a day, could be 25 million years. Plus, I think the "it's time" comment was more of a "He is coming because it is time for him to come", rather than a "In about five minutes."

And isn't calling for help basically the same thing I suggested anyway? Whether we go there physically or not (though I think they would be more receptive if we show up personally) we probably can't do this on our own.

While strong followers may be necessary considering that we're dealing with the threat of a Class 6 Omniversal Apocalypse, we have to also realize that, while it is important, the strength of our followers, their religious zeal and numbers are what really matters. I believe that we ALL need to devote our time and energy into gaining support from other worlds, and looking into other universes...I also think that the Rune Magic may have some significance--if it can make magic easy on a small scale, imagine what the gods could do with it on a universal scale.

We can't just sit around. This is not a matter of our world, it is a matter of all creation. Perhaps the answer lies in trying to summon the First?

sorry if bringing up my angels in a conversation about how to stop the end of the universe is a bit of a dickish thing to do but so far they are the only thing I've done that hasn't caused problems, so they are important to me.
